Busy, but still going!

The longest run i've done in the past week has only been 14 miles. I really just cannot find the time to fit in a nice 17, 19 mile run.  I have been riding my bike everyday to school though, which has given me a great workout and hopefully is keeping me at a long distance running shape. I've got only 2 weeks until the marathon.  Over the weekend I got a very nice new road bike, a lot lighter than the one I was riding before! I was so excited to ride it this morning, but I didn't realise how cold it was going to be. I thought I would warm up from riding, buuut I was wrong. My whole body was numb by the time I got to the campus. My face and hands were bright red! Fortunately I cut of 30 whole minutes from biking before with my old bike and biking now. On the way home I took an extra 2 miles to stop by my sister's school to get a house key, because crazy thing, if you don't have your campus I.D. then you WILL be kicked out of class. So I had to ride home 2 hours early. Honest mistake, I wont let it happen again.  I hope to be able to run tomorrow, and hooopefully I wont forget to write about it. I'm just too busy of a lady:). Thats all for nooow, Thank you have a nice day! :)

Writing a blog is hard. I did a little running since the 18th nothing crazy intense though. Today I rode my back to my school that is 13 miles away. I forgot to time myself last time I did it so, I thought i would get there on time. I was wrong, I showed up 20 minutes late for class! I walked in and I told the instructor that I had rode my bike and yada yada. So after my 3rd class I got back on my bike to go the 13 miles back, but I was so starving. I pulled into the sonic right across the street from the campus and ordered a corndog and a water bottlee. I got on my bike with my corn dog and rode home eating. When I got home, I had crazy helmet hair. Tomorrow when I do it again I will post a photo, if i can figure out how. When I got home I was done, ready for a nap and food. My mom comes home 30 minutes and asks me if I want to go running. Being a terrific daughter I didn't turn down my mom. We ran 5 miles, and every step my butt felt like it was going to twist and fall off. By the time I got home I was so hungry. I couldn't bear it. I ate a plate of rice thinking it would be fine. Turns out i burned way too much to only eat a plate of rice. **If you're going to work out and burn so many calories, you HAVE TO take them in account when you are having a meal.** I got in my bath feeling fine, still hungry but I didn't want to spoil my stomach. After a while I felt light headed and out of nowhere I was out. I woke up gasping for breath under the water so I drank a few cups of it. So I got a huge glass of water and sat down with chicken and rice for a second dinner. Another thing, **drink water the day before you exercise. Its not going to hydrate you if you drink it 5 minutes before you run.** I'll be riding my bike the 26 miles everyday for a while. My legs better be in a magazine by the end of the semester.
Thats all, thank you. Have a nice day :)

It's a Mental Thing.

I've had a few people message me about endurance and how to build it up. The absolute best advice i can give for that would be the most cliche thing, -It's a mental thing-.  It is! Absolutely. When you are running don't think "I want to do this so bad", think "I'm going to do this!" You have to get your mind through it  before you put your body through it. If you aren't mentally prepared to give it your all and not stop until you have succeeded then you are never going to be physically prepared. Last summer I was 20 pounds heavier, not completely chunky but I was bigger and not as in shape. I started running again that August and I knoow when you start running you think how comfy your bed is, and make up excuses why you don't have to run it. I've been there. When you start, don't think about tomorrow, don't think about a week from now that you will still have to be training. Think about when you are done and you are running or exercising as much as you wanted to and as much as your body needs to for you to feel and look amazing.  You can look up training programs, you can go on special pills that build your body up, but nothing will prepare you for that distance better than your mind.

If the bike ride is easy going there its going to be ridiculous on the way back.

This morning I woke up around 7, had a nice wake up call. I got ready in some nice semi-winter workout clothes and sat for a bit. I put off my bike ride until around 8:20... terrible haha. When I started it wasn't so bad, I felt pretty chill about it until the first hill came, i've never in my life felt so out of shape! I was yelling! When i reached the top I swear, I was wheezing. The rest of the way there was pretty much strait or downhill soo I got coocky and was singing while biking, felt like it was no big deal at all. When I reached my turn around point, which was around 9:10 ish, I stopped at a Sonic and got a large cup of ice and sat and really didn't feeel like getting back on my bike, but beast don't rest. I went on my way back. I don't know if I lost all my energy because I sat down but, it was killer killer on the way back. I took of my jacket, rolled up my sleeves and pretttyyy much bossed the rest of it. I got home and my legs forgot how to walk.
I didn't just bike for no reason, biking is great way to increase your speed for running. It's also great if you do a long run the day before, and don't really want to run again. If you get into habits like skipping days like me an easy bike ride (Obviously this wasn't an easy one) is good to keep your blood flowing, reduce muscle stiffness, and help you stay warmed up for the run the next day. Also, riding a bike has the constant motion as running, but with more muscle use instead of pounding so much on your bones.
I feel so tired, but the good feeling kind of tired. :) Have a nice day!

Don't Listen to a comedian while you're running.

Today I ran 9 miles, it was supposed to be an intense run buut, I was feeling too relaxed for intensity so I ran at around an 8 minute pace. I was listening to Dane Cook while I was running and tried super hard to not laugh, but he's too funny of a guy and occasionally I would look insane and laugh while I was running. Other runners on the trail kept their distance from me.. haha.
Today I didn't eat that unhealthy, but I still need it to be healthier. I need somebody to enforce it on me. I didn't think it would be so hard to stay away from sweets and junk food, but my house is loaded with food. Tomorrow, my plan is to bike ride to the school i'll be going to because I will have to ride my bike most of the time in the morning. It's 12 miles away I want to see how long it takes to get there. Then ride back. Ooon a side note.. I got a job interview right next to my new school soooo... :) Have a nice day.

As my first "training" day I ran a quick 7 mile run. I jogged a mile then ran a mile as fast as i could then jogged again, and so on. I don't want to get stuck in a jogging pace for long distance because you don't realize it until you see your time.
I've never really truly trained for anything, I normally just go and keep in shape and do as much as I can do. For my last marathon it was really just to see if i could do it, now that I know that I can do it why not go for time. For the first week I'm going to be doing medium distance fast paced runs. Hopefully my Body will get used to running at that pace and I can slowly up the mileage. I'm still deciding on whether or not I want to start a healthy diet.. My two pieces of cake tonight prove that I really am not ready to.. ha-ha.
I'm waking up at 5 a.m. to run 9 miles tomorrow, dedication huh?
